Economic development is often described as creating the conditions for prosperity. Stewardship is making sure that prosperity is sustainable. That balance has been on my mind recently as conversations continue in Christina Lake about Al data centres and the infrastructure that supports them. While the discussion may be local, the questions it raises are much bigger than our community.
Christina Gateway is contributing funds toward the City of Grand Forks’ commitment to support the Boundary Medical Clinic. Boundary Medical Clinic supports access to doctors, and contributes to emergency services at Boundary Regional Hospital. Supporting the clinic helps keep more health care options available in the region. That benefits Christina Lake residents, local workers, families, seniors, and anyone who needs access to care.
Over the summer and fall of 2024 we spoke with over 350 individuals through pop-up events, roundtables and business walks. These meetings provided a comprehensive understanding of our transportation gaps, and resulted in numerous recommendations presented in the On the Move Transportation Study.
